Make books a priority for young people.
Today, screens (televisions, phones, tablets and computers) occupy a prominent place in the lives of young people. This observation is the reason why more and more voices are being raised to denounce the low level of students. Placing the book at the heart of homes is therefore an avenue that is increasingly mentioned. It is with this in mind that African Technology and Communication firm will organize in Abidjan, in the months of March and April 2023, the 4th edition of the Festival Afrique à Livre Ouvert (FALO).
Through a variety of activities, it will be a question of celebrating reading, writing and the many advantages they can provide in the development of the individual.
Indeed, the objectives sought by the FALO, beyond making the physical book an indispensable instrument for the education of the child, aim to create a culture of reading in children from childhood, and especially to make parents aware of the benefits of this practice. More generally, it is a question of creating a family environment favorable to the development of the child, to his awakening and to register reading as a bearer of benefits for a good balance of the latter.
The Falo will take place in two main parts. Throughout the month of March 2023, a caravan will criss-cross several towns in the interior of Côte d’Ivoire with the aim of promoting the event as well as the pre-selection of participants in the final stages, in Abidjan, of the dictation competitions , stage reading, poetry and slam. And on April 13, 14 and 15, at the Palais de la culture in Treichville, conferences, workshops, exhibitions-sales and the final stages of the competitions will constitute the last stage of the first edition of this event devoted to books.
